Let our passionate teachers help you reach your goals!
BCA and Bergen Tech are highly desirable schools that reject more students than they admit. The facilities, teachers and motivated student body are hard to beat, and moreover they are public schools with no tuition. In addition to completing an application, submitting grades and teacher recommendation letters, students also sit for an English and math exam. This year this will happen on the weekend of November 23, earlier than previous years.
Our program is designed to assist you with all aspects of the admission process, but primarily focus on preparation for the exam. The math portion of the class will teach and review the skills required to do well on the 45-minute, multiple choice exam. We design this class not strictly as a test prep, but a class where students learn math.
The English portion of the class will practice reading and writing skills. The test in November will provide students with a passage as well as a prompt. In 45 minutes, students will be required to write a coherent essay that shows their understanding of the passage as well as their mastery of writing skills. The class focuses on teaching students to identify the themes of the works and quickly assemble an essay that successfully responds to the question.
In both classes, students will be given homework and expected to come to class with this completed. Class size is limited to no more than 12, and in years past has been closer to ten students. This allows for individualized feedback and better learning opportunities. Classes are held in person and if a student is unable to attend, we can set up a Zoom link so that he or she can follow along.
I have an BA and MA in Literature and have been teaching high school English for over twenty-five years. Working with small classes provides an exceptional opportunity to not only share my passion for what I do, but also get to know my students and help them develop the skills they need to thrive on such tests. I have have helped prepare students for this and other exams and am confident that we can get the score you need.
We are fortunate to have exceptional teachers who have advanced degrees in their fields as well as many years of teaching experience. All classes are taught by licensed, employed New Jersey teachers who know their material and how to effectively communicate. Moreover, we all have intimate knowledge of the schools. We know what you need to know and we know how to get you there. Reserve your spot now.
This year, the exam will be held earlier than ever, November 23. As a result we will provide students with summer work to guarntee that they are ready. Moreoever, we are also adding three classes on the weekends in November For these sessions the plan is to offer mock test where the students can build up the endurance required for the actual exam.

It's funny how your energy transfers into us students, because I can feel it in your classroom-and that makes it one of the most enjoyable classes.
